The Westpac Stadium was previously known as the Westpac Trust Stadium. Fans and locals often refer to it as the ‘Tin Cake’ because of its shape; many also simply refer to it as ‘The Stadium’. This stadium was built in 1999, and is one of New Zealand’s major sporting venues. Football and Rugby are the other major sports played here besides cricket. Soccer fans call the ground ‘The Ring of Fire’. Besides sports, the ground has also hosted many big music concerts and events.
